Applying for a SAIT Summer Camps Volunteer Camp Leader Assistant

We are now accepting applications for students in Grade 11 or 12 that want an opportunity to build their resume, develop leadership skills, and work in a fun environment.  Volunteering as a Camp Leader Assistant at SAIT Summer Camps is an excellent way to learn about SAIT programs while working with youth. It also is a good way to be considered for a Camp Leader position at SAIT Summer Camps in future years.

Requirements for High School Volunteer Camp Leader Assistants

  • High school volunteers must be entering grade 11 or 12 or have graduated high school in June 2017.
  • Volunteers must attend the volunteer training day in June
  • Volunteers must submit a cover letter and resume stating their interest in becoming a volunteer with SAIT Summer Camps. Applications are due no later than Friday, May 26, 2017 by 4:00pm.
  • Volunteers must obtain and provide a clean and current (within one year of September 2016) criminal record check with vulnerable sector search. Visit Calgary Police Services for more information. If you successfully obtain a volunteer position at SAIT Summer Camps, we will provide you with an official letter and reimburse the cost of the record check.

Volunteer Duties

  • Attend the mandatory training day in June.
  • Prep camp materials
  • Co-lead some activities
  • Help campers complete activities
  • Develop a positive, fun and safe camp environment for children and youth
  • Monitor camper behaviour to ensure all camper safety and rules/regulations are followed
  • Develop games, crafts and activities for lunch supervision/during camps
  • Photocopy and/or obtain supplies for camp leaders
  • Escort campers around the campus when needed
  • If required and applicable, provide information for camper incident reports
  • Other volunteer duties as assigned

Time Commitment

Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (1/2 hour for lunch)

Days: Monday to Friday (there is no camp on stat holidays)

You can volunteer for as many weeks as you would like (no partial weeks please). We are flexible in accommodating appointments you may have during the day and your vacation schedule.
